NPS - National Pension System is the voluntary defined contribution retirement savings scheme which is designedto enable subscribers to make decisions regarding future through systematic savings during working life. It induces the habit of saving among the people for retirement.
In this system all the individual savings are put together or pooled into a pension fund invested by PFRDA regulated professional fund managers as per the approved investment guidelines into diversified portfolios like shares and debentures etc.
NPS Account opening provides Permanent Retirement Account Number - PRAN, a unique number which remains with the subscribers lifetime.
NPS is structured in two tiers.
Tier - I Account: This account is non withdrawable permanent retirement account in which accumulations are deposited and invested as per the subscribers.
Tier - II Account: This account is voluntary withdrawable account allowed only if you have active Tier I account in subscribed name. In this account withdrawable are permitted as per the needs of the subscriber as and when claimed.

Should be between the age of 18 to 60 years as on the date of joining
